Blackberry picking: questions and answers
When is blackberry season?
Blackberries ripen from late May in the Deep South through June and July in most states, and into September in the North and Pacific Northwest.
How do you know a blackberry is ripe?
Ripe blackberries are deep black and dull rather than shiny, and they come off the plant with almost no pull. Red or shiny berries are not ready yet.
